I am a media executive with over 24 years’ experience having worked in radio broadcasting sector for various commercial and public brands. I cut my teeth in broadcasting on campus radio at Wits University (Voice of Wits) on YFM 99.2 South Africa's first youth regional commercial radio station in 1997. I have worked for YFM, Kaya FM, Lotus FM, 5FM, Radio 2000 holding various positions such as on air presenter, producer, Programming Manager, Station Manager, Head of SABC Digital Media
Strategy and General Manager of SABC Radio (19 Radio Stations). My bigger achievement was the 2007 turn around of R2000 and being recognized by FIFA for my work and contribution in media broadcasting towards the successful coverage of the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010 tournament in South Africa. In 2017 I led a South African “Youth in Coding Hackathon” (Combating Cyber Crime organized by the UNO and DOHA Government delegation in partnership with NGO Africa Teen Geeks, Department of Basic Education and the SABC) to San Francisco, USA held at the Symantec and Google Head offices. I have graduated top of my class SABC Leadership Development Programme (2016) and obtained an MBA (2018) from Regenesys Business School (specialization: Mergers and Acquisitions, International Management with my thesis based on “Strategy, not Technology, Drives Digital Transformation – it was a South African media study.
In 2019 I created Media Maverick Consultanting (MMC) a strategy consulting enterprise that specialises in media, entertainment and technology. I have graduated top of my class SABC Leadership Development Programme (2016) and obtained an MBA (2018) from Regenesys Business School (specialization: Mergers and Acquisitions, International Management with my thesis based on “Strategy, not Technology, Drives Digital Transformation – it was a South African media study.
I also recently received ‘The Most Influential Men of the Year Award 2019 – South Africa – KZN Region.
