I have for the last 24 years been in the radio broadcast media industry in South Africa. I entered the broadcast landscape at age 21 known to the industry as ‘Carlito the Jackal’ – straight out of Wits University in October 1997 and joined YFM 99.2 (South Africa’s first and only commercial youth regional station) alongside DJ Fresh, Phat Joe, Oscar Warona, etc. with popular SA -Idols Judge Randall Abrahams was the first station manager.

I went on to work as a producer and on-air personality and assistant programming manager at Kaya FM working with legendary Bob Mabena in the mornings and later in 2004 joined the SABC Lotus FM in KZN as their First official Programme Manager. Before leaving the SABC in February 2019 after 16 years - I was Programming Manager at 5FM, Station Manager for Radio 2000, Head of SABC Radio Digital Media Strategy across 19 radio stations and Acting General Manager SABC Radio. I served on the National Association of Broadcasters Committee and worked with the team that is driving DTT and DAB+ in South Africa. I am also a speaker at various broadcast conferences prior to Covid 19. I am a devout vegetarian, who is passion about public speaking, motivational talks, training, mentoring and MC’ing, broadcast media.
